In our inaugural season, Portland Velo Cycling Team has more than exceeded my expectations. A few months ago we were a bunch of guys who hammered on each other on Saturday mornings and laughed about it afterwards at our favorite coffee shop. After a couple years of this weekly barbaric ritual we decided to start our own team so we could finally share our passion for pain with others. We currently have thirty-five people on the team and there is a good vibe within the group. When we’re not riding, we are still communicating with each other several times a day through our web site forum. This camaraderie has also translated into some significant results over the last three months. In that time we have produced 5 wins and are currently ranked 7th out of 59 teams. I want to thank the folks at Velo Vie. You have been great to work with and the bikes have been great. This is a quality product from quality folks! Thanks again for all your support and we hope to do you proud. By the way, if you need us to answer any questions or if someone wants to take a look at the bikes in the Portland area, have them give me a call. Ty Lambert, Team President.UPDATE 5/12: I'm not sure if anybody has already sent you a message, but we put our Veloces to good use today, winning the Oregon State team time trial championships in Cat 4 (probably our last ride there) by about 40 seconds over the next group. 3 of the 4 of us were riding Velo Vie bikes, having never ridden TT bikes before. We're all pretty pleased with them. They handled better than I expected on a course with multiple sharp corners, soaked up the chip seal roads well, and are apparently pretty efficient based on our results. All of us are suffering a bit in the saddle area from the unfamiliar position (Doh!), but there's always some price for speed. Bob Bigwood, Portland Velo. |
