Team Traveller is club composed of students, alumni, faculty and staff of Washington and Lee University and local bike enthusiasts. We are located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Lexington, Virginia. The club promotes cycling at all levels: Racing, Charity and recreational rides and advocacy. The club began in January of 2007 with two members keen on racing. We trained through the winter to prepare for our races. In February, we rode 400 miles from Richmond, Virginia to Norristown, Pennsylvania (just outside Philadelphia) to raise $12,000.00 for the National Parkinson's Foundation. Over the summer, we worked hard to develop the team through recruitment, sponsorship and publicity. We've grown from a handful of members to 34. We've participated in 12 races, between March and October and won six of those races, with strong finishes five others. For the 2008 season, we have an aggressive race schedule and plan on participating in the eight-man team Race Across America in June.
